Three Pioneers Score in Double Digits in AMCC Semifinal Loss to La Roche

Three Alfred State women's basketball players scored in double digits in the No. 5 seeded Pioneers 82-57 loss to the No. 1 seeded La Roche Redhawks in the AMCC semifinal game Friday evening.

This was the first time in program history the Pioneers made the AMCC Semifinals, and they finish their season 11-14 overall which is the most wins since the 2016-17 season.

Alfred State shot 40.4% in field goals, 72.7% in free throws and picked up 26 rebounds.

La Roche recorded 46.7% in field goals, 42.9% in free throws and had 47 rebounds.

My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) led the Pioneers with 16 points and went four-for-six from the free throw line.

Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) scored 15 points and had a team-high of eight rebounds.

Emily Kelley (Andover) chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds. 

Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) had six points, six rebounds and three assists and Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City) added six points.

The lead changed four times and the game was tied once.

Alfred State tied the game 3-3 and took the lead twice in the first quarter. They had a 12-10 advantage with 4:10 left on the clock but La Roche went on an eight-point run and took a 22-19 edge heading into the second quarter.

The Redhawks out-scored the Pioneers 23-8 in the second quarter and led 45-27 at halftime.

La Roche started the third quarter with a ten-point spree and took their largest lead of 34 points (63-29) with 4:23 on the clock in the third.

The Pioneers were able to cut the advantage to 23 points heading into the final quarter.

The Redhawks out-scored Alfred State 15-13 in the fourth to take the 25-point win.
