New Career-High For Searle As The Pioneers Fall To The Saxons

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Women's Basketball team falls short against Alfred University 64-44. Taylor Searle set a new career-high in points with 15 as the Pios drop to 0-4.

Along with Searle's 15 points she also added six rebounds. Taylor Benjamin tallied 12 points and five rebounds, while Anna Merry scored six points on two threes.

A Searle free throw got the Pioneers on the board first, then Benjamin added a three to make it a 6-4 game. The Saxons expanded their lead to 11-4, before Searle hit a jumper to try and stop the run. A few possessions later, Anna Merry banked in a three from the top of the key to make it an 18-9 game going into the second quarter.

Searle added four more free throws to start the quarter, before CeCe Jones tallied one of her own. The Saxons went on a run to end the quarter and take a 33-14 lead into halftime.

Alfred University continued to add to their lead until the Pios went on a 10-3 run to close out the quarter. The Saxons were able to hold off the Pioneers attack in the fourth to secure the win.
