Pioneers Come Up Short Against The Red Hawks

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought game against La Roche 96-69. The Pioneers moves to 3-14 on the season and 2-8 in conference play.

Taylor Benjamin led the way with 18 points on 7-10 shooting to go along with her eight rebounds. Sarah Somers had a good game as she tallied 17 points on 8-11 shooting while she also grabbed six rebounds. Taylor Searle added nine points, as Josie Barton put in seven points.

The Red Hawks started the game hot on a 10-0 run. Benjamin put in a layup, then Barton knocked down two free throws to make it a 10-4 game. La Roche would continue their run as they out scored the Pios 24-7 in the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Pioneers got their offense going as they scored 20 points in the quarter then in the third quarter they out scored La Roche 29-24 to cut the deficit to 70-56 heading into the fourth.

La Roche was able to hold off the Pioneers to secure the win.
