Pioneers Roll Past Express

Alfred, NY – Every player on the Alfred State Women's basketball team that played scored as the Pioneers defeated Wells College 70-28. The Pioneers improved to 4-16 overall and 3-10 in conference play.

Sarah Somers led the way for the Pioneers scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Jenna George had 12 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Victoria Smith had 10 points with 3 assists and 3 steals for the Pioneers. Anna Merry and Jaiden Williams added 9 points each.

Somers got things going early for the Pioneers making a layup after getting a steal to open the scoring. The Pioneers led 14-9 after the first quarter of play. A pair of layups by Williams in the middle of the second quarter capped off a 15-0 run. Alfred State used the momentum and had a 33-15 lead at halftime.

George made a layup at the end of the third quarter to extend the lead to 54-26. In the fourth quarter the Pioneers would outscore the Express 16-2 to finish with the victory.
