Pioneers End Their Season With A Win Over Carlow

Alfred NY- Alfred State Women's Basketball ended their season with a 65-53 over Carlow. The Pioneers end season with a 6-19 overall record.

Taylor Benjamin led the way with 24 points and 14 rebounds. While Sarah Somers added 20 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Taylor Searle and Anna Merry combined for 13 points.

After scoring the first bucket, the Pioneers ended the quarter with a 9-0 run to take a 11-4 lead in the second quarter.

Later in the second, Somers gave the Pioneers a 16-9 lead with a layup. A few possessions later, Benjamin knocked down a three to put the Pioneers up double digits, 20-9. After some back-and-forth action, the Pioneers took a 30-20 lead at the end of half.

Benjamin gets the Pioneers their first bucket of the third with a three-point jump shot. Later into the third, Somers helped push the lead further with two layups bringing the score to 40-21. This would later be followed up with a three-point shot from Searle.

Benjamin kicked off the fourth quarter with a three; thus, pushing the lead to 51-36. Later, the Pioneers senior Jessica Harris would go on to score a layup off a strong offensive rebound.  Somers would go on to score three layups for the Pioneers in the last quarter of the game to get the 65-53 win
