The Pioneers Picked Up Two Wins At The Red Dragon Duals

Cortland, NY- The Alfred State men's wrestling team tallied their first wins of the season. The Pioneers took down the Red Dragons for the first time in program history 28-19, they followed with another program first win over Brockport 46-6. They did suffer a loss to St. John Fisher 27-16.

Alfred State vs Cortland 28-19

In the 125 bout, Mason Drew got the fall over Rocco Futia 3:00. Zach Levey followed with a major decision win over Cody Merwin, before Elijah Moshenek notched a fall over Christian Paredes for the 16-0 dual lead. Dominick Vinci tallied a decision win over Shane Walczyk to expand the lead to 19-0. Cortland would get wins in the 157, 165, and 174 matches to close the gap to 19-15. Sean Malenfant earned six points for a forfeit win, before Brent Perry got a decision win over Robby Cunningham to give the Pioneers a 28-15 lead. The Red Dragon got the win in the 285 match, but the Pioneers won the dual.

Alfred State vs Brockport 46-6

The dual got started with a forfeit win for Mason Drew. In the 133 match Zachary Levey notched a fall in 4:57 over Alex Burroughs. Then Elijah Moshenek got the decision win over Jaden Friel before Brockport notched their only win of the dual in the 149 bout. The Pioneers would go on to win the next six matches, 157 Ethan Morrison won by major decision, 165 Justin Smith won by fall, 174 George Racz won by fall, 184 Aaron Johnson notched a tech fall, 197 Brent Perry also tallied a tech fall, and Nicholas Barrett got the fall in the 285 match.

Alfred State vs St. John Fisher 16-27

The Pioneers were able to get four wins in this dual. The first win was Levey in the 133 match as he notched a major decision win over a national qualifier last year. Then in the 165 bout, Justin Smith tallied an 8-3 decision win over Jeremy Devine. Aaron Johnson would get a tech fall win over Michael Watts, before Sean Malenfant wrestled up a weight class to get the major decision win over Braydon Vandenberg.
