Lady Pioneers Earn 5th Seed for USCAA Nationals

The Alfred State women's soccer team has earned the #5 seed in next week's United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships.  The Lady Pioneers will take on #4 SUNY ESF in their quarterfinal match-up on Oct. 31.

The blue & gold are 10-3-1 on the year with two more regular season games on the schedule. They are led by a Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) and Krista DeCarlo (West Islip). Muhleisen has found the back of the net 19 times while DeCarlo has played all but 5:46 in net and has recorded five shutouts.  Alfred State has netted 36 goals on the year and has allowed 17.

SUNY ESF is currently 10-0-1 on the year with one regular season game remaining on their schedule.  They have scored 39 goals and allowed just nine.  The Mighty Oaks have recorded five shutouts.  Bridget Cuddihy leads the Mighty Oaks with 10 goals while Heather Carl has eight on the year. Olivia Gagliardi has made 35 saves and has three shutouts on the year in net.

The USCAA National Championship Tournament features ten teams with the games played in Charleston, West Virginia.  West Virginia Tech will serve as host for both the men's and women's championships between Oct. 30 - Nov. 2.

Alfred State and SUNY ESF are part of a ten team field that includes: #1 Maine Fort Kent (13-1), #2 Daemen College (7-8), #3 Florida College (8-5), #6 Albany College of Pharmacy (10-1-1), #7 Paul Smith's College (9-3-1), #8 Penn College (9-6-2), #9 Maine Machias (14-3-1), and #10 WV Tech (4-12)
