Taggart Wins Heptathlon, Qualifies for AARTFC Championships

Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD/Francis Scott Key) won the heptathlon at the Cortland Red Dragon Open with an AARTFC qualifying score of 3652 points.

She is currently ranked 13th in Division III.

On Saturday Taggart won the heptathlon high jump (1.56m) and shot put (10.78m) and came in second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.81) and 200-meters (28.91).

On Sunday she was 2nd in long jump (4.55m), third in the 800-meters (2:53.89) and third in javelin (16.15m).

"It was a beautiful balmy 33 degrees with snow flurries and wind the entire afternoon but she fought through and got it done," head coach Tim Giagios said.

Taggart and the Pioneers will compete next at Brockport on Friday, April 15.
