Pioneers Finish Third At The Conference Meet

Erie, PA- The Alfred State women's track and field team finished third at the United East Conference Championship meet with a total of 113.50 points.

 

Izzy Popoff won the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:58.77. Then Oli Kraynik won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.32, also in that event Lily Schnell would come in fifth with a time of 1:03.48

 

Mackenzie Gillette finished second in the hammer throw finals with a best throw of 43.03 meters. Jileena Stearns was also in the top eight as she finished fifth with a best throw of 33.62 meters.

 

Madison Snayczuk notched second place in the triple jump after jumping 10.71 meters.

 

Then in the 100-meter hurdles, Charis Evans and Adriana Gill finished in fifth and sixth respectively. Evan ran an 18.79 for fifth, while Gill ran a 19.45 for sixth. Then in the 400-meter hurdles, Gill came in fifth, followed by Evans in eighth.

 

The trio Popoff, Hailey Kumpf and Olivia Plummer finished top 5 in the 800-meter run. Popoff led the way in second with a time of 2:27.52, followed by Kumpf (2:27.66) in third, and Plummer (2:38.99) in fifth.

 

Sarah Rivet ran a 26.60 200-meter dash for fifth place. Then in the 100-meter dash she finished in seventh with a time of 13.08.

 

Then in the 4x400 the team of Schnell, Rivet, Kumpf, and Kraynik won with a time of 4:08.34. In the 4x100 meter relay, the team of Rivet, Kraynik, Walter, and Snayczuk came in fourth with a time of 51.28.

 

Looking at the history books, Rivet moved into ninth all time in the 200, Popoff moved into 10th in the 800, followed by Kumpf in 11th. Kraynik now sits in fifth in the 400, and the 4x400 team sits in fifth all time. In the field events, Gillette moved into third all time in hammer and Snayczak sits in fifth in the long jump.

PSU-Behrend finish first, followed by St. Mary's in second, Gallaudet in fourth, PSU-Harrisburg in fifth, Lancaster Bible in sixth, Hilbert in seventh, Carlow in eighth, Cedar Crest in ninth, and St. Elizabeth in 10th.
