Alfred State volleyball team - Pink Pride game!

Volleyball Sweeps Hilbert

Alfred State continued their impressive 2021 season with a 25-11, 25-8, 25-15 sweep of Hilbert. The Pioneers improve to 16-2 and 6-1 in AMCC play.

The Pioneers got contributions from all twelve members of the 2021 squad in the contest. Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD) led the way with nine kills and 2.5 blocks. Racquel Gerstenberger (Schoharie) and Alyssa Martin (Portville) each recorded seven kills. Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) led the team with 10 digs and six aces, Nayomie Ferrer (Eastridge) passed out 17 assists in two sets, and Megan Gridley (Corning Painted Post) finished with seven digs.

The Pioneers led throughout the game as the match had only one tie in it. 17 service aces were key in the victory and the team finished with a .333 hitting percentage.

Prior to the game, the coaching staff honored Perkins, Martin, and Gridley who will conclude their collegiate careers this season. The trio have been key to the success of the 2021 season.

The match also was the annual Pink Pride game and the volleyball team spearheaded fundraisers (basket raffle, jar wars, t-shirt sales) to benefit the Allegany County Cancer Services.

The Pioneers have one regular season game remaining. They will battle Pitt-Bradford on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Orvis Activities Center. The contest will be key in determining the final seeding of next week's AMCC Championships.
