Alfred State Advances To AMCC Finals For The Third Straight Year

Altoona, PA- Alfred State Volleyball advances to the AMCC conference finals for the second year in a row, as they sweep Behrend 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-17). The Pioneers move to 17-8 on the season.

Alayna Tomlinson led the way with 12 kills and 11 digs, while Nayomie Ferrer Santiago tallied 32 assists and nine digs. Racquel Gerstenberger had a good game as well with nine kills and 14 digs.

The Pioneers opened the game on a 10-5 run. After a Lions point, Ferrer put in a kill and then both Caitlyn Gilman and Alayna Tomlinson added kills to extend the lead to 14-8. After another Behrend Point, Alfred you get four straight points to take full control of the set. The Lions would go a run at the but Tomlinson and Gabriella Thurmond put in kills to win the set.

Set two started tightly contested with the set tied at 11-11. From there the Pios would go on an 8-2 run to take a 19-14 lead. ASC held onto that momentum to win the set and set three to advance to the AMCC finals for the second straight year.
