Alfred State College Opens New Strength Room

Alfred State College Director of Athletics, Jason Doviak announced that the renovation of the strength & conditioning training facility is completed and is now open for student-athletes. "This has been an exciting project beginning all the way back to the developmental stage, through the planning process, completing the construction phase, and now opening it to our student-athletes."  Doviak spoke on the finalization of the project. "This space will provide our student-athletes with an outstanding area to train appropriately for their respective sport and enhance their overall athletic experience on campus. Our strength and conditioning coaches have worked tirelessly and have long awaited the completion of this project. They are looking forward to utilizing the state-of-the-art equipment to prepare our student-athletes for competition."

The weight room includes a substantial amount of state-of-the-art equipment.

The Equipment Includes: 

6- Olympic Lifting Insert Platforms

12 Power Lift ½ Racks: Custom built and equipped with jam presses, concentric ladders, connecting brace chins, band attachments, landmines, dip attachments and multi-rollers.

10 Floating Benches

4 Glute-Ham developers

4 Assault bikes

30 Pairs of dumbbells

40 Feet of turf

10 TRX Trainers

6 Perfect squat bars

6 Neutral grip bars

A variety of functional equipment: Including 20 medicine balls,  30 kettle bells, bands, core bags, combo lat-pull and low row stations, sleds and 3 Power Lift foam plyo boxes

 Fitness Center Director Gene Doorley also spoke on the new Alfred State Strength Room. "The upgrade to the Pioneer Strength Room further represents Alfred State's ongoing commitment to staying on the cutting edge with regards to student-athlete development and the college's commitment to athletics." Doorley also spoke on the equipment and functionality of the space. "This is a top-of-the-line strength room. It is one of the best DIII strength rooms in the state and will surely offer all our athletes a platform to build their peak performance. The Alfred State logo is everywhere, from the barbells and floor, to the turf area. Every piece of equipment is branded, when our student-athletes are standing in the room, they will surely feel the pride of being a Pioneer."
