Keuka Takes Two from Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State softball team fell 7-3 and 7-0 to Keuka College on Thursday afternoon. The losses snapped the Lady Pioneers four game winning streak.

In the opener, the blue and gold took a 3-2 lead in the 5th inning behind a RBI groundout by Stormi Kruger (Medina) and a fielding error. Keuka answered right back with four of their own in the bottom half behind four hits and one Lady Pioneer error. The Wolfpack added an insurance run in the 6th.

Amanda Rockefeller (Bolivar Richburg) was 2 for 2 while Katie Jackson (Troy, PA) and Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA) were each 2 for 4. Trisha Shingleton (Byron Bergen) collected a RBI single in the 4th for the Lady Pioneers.

Mackenzie Cole led the Wolfpack ten hit attack with a 3 for 4, 2 RBI day while Liz Warren struck out six in a complete game victory.

In the nightcap, Briana Bush allowed just four hits and Samantha Blum and Katelyn Warren hit homers as the Wolfpack completed the sweep. Warren hit a two-run homer in the 1st and Blum hit a solo shot in Keuka's four-run 3rd inning.

Lura O'Keefe (Allegany Limestone) collected the Lady Pioneers only extra base hit, a double in the 4th inning.

The Lady Pioneers will close out their season on Saturday when they host RIT for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
