Swim Teams Opens up 2014 Action

The Alfred State swimming team opened up the 2014 portion of their season with a dual meet versus Monroe CC.  The Tribunes were victorious 89-24 on the women's side and 98-56 on the men's side.

Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama) won the 1650 free (20:17.27) to pace the blue & gold.  He was also 2nd in the 500 free (5:48.38).

Alex Ciolek (Orchard Park) was 2nd in the 50 free (24.44) and 2nd in the 200 back (2:24.55), John Buyea (Akron) was 2nd in the 200 free (2:12.17), Jacob Drew (Victor) was 2nd in the 400 IM (2:40.74), Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) was 2nd in the 200 fly (2:40.74), and Andrew Hochreiter (Akron) was 2nd in the 100 free (1:02.38).

On the women's side, Danielle Roberts (Lockport) was 2nd in the 50 free (28.29) and the 100 free (1:05.04) while Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford) was 2nd in the 200 back (2:54.02) and the 200 free (2:35.19).  Maggie McBurney (Jamesville Dewitt) was 2nd in both the 1650 and 500 free.

The Pioneers are back in action on January 21st when they host Wells College in the Orvis Activities Center at 6 p.m.
