All Six Pioneer Runners Earn All-AMCC Honors

All six Pioneers that competed at the AMCC Cross Country Championships last weekend have run to All-Conference honors. Alfred State finished the race, their first since November 2019, in 2nd place in the team standings.

Katie Watkins (Addison) led the way for the Pioneers when she crossed the finish line of the 5k course in 26:04.02 to earn 4th place. Right behind her was Sarah Rivet (Waterford/Shenendehowa) who finished 5th in 26:06.63. In 2019, Rivet finished 20th overall and Watkins was 21st at the AMCC Championships.

Laura Ferris (Victor/Mercy) was 6th in 26:06.63, Isabelle Popoff (Cicero North Syracuse) was 9th in 29:24.14, Summer Kier (East Rochester) rounded out the top ten with a 10th place finish in 29:50.06, and Anna Hersom (Byron Bergen) finished 14th in 31:16.92.

Six members of Penn State Behrend joined the six representing Alfred State. Hilbert had two runners on the all-conference team while Mount Aloysius had one.

Behrend took the team title with a score of 23 while the Pioneers scored 32 in the competition that featured athletes from five different schools. The team result was a one spot improvement from the 2019 championship.
