Men's Basketball: 3-4, 2-2 AMCC

The blue & gold split a pair of road conference games this past week. They defeated Pitt Bradford 85-76 but fell 78-69 to Penn State Altoona.

Josh Reding (Spencerport) had a career high 31 in the win over Bradford and led the team with 38 total points. He connected on five 3-pointers and was 17 for 18 from the foul line. Jahmel Demery (Eastridge) led team with 14 at Altoona and finished with 26 points and 14 boards for the week. Ryan Gentile (Spencerport) connected on five 3-pointers as well this week and finished with 26 points.

Women's Basketball: 2-4, 1-3 AMCC

The Pioneers split a pair of AMCC road contests this week. They defeated Pitt Bradford 74-61 but fell 87-49 at Penn State Altoona.

Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) led the team with 32 points (six 3-pointers) and nine assists this week. Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) finished with 24 points on the week, Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) had 22 points, and Emily Kelley (Andover) finished with 18 points, 18 rebounds, and five blocks.

Men's Swimming & Diving: 3-1, 1-1 AMCC & Women's Swimming & Diving: 1-3, 1-1 AMCC

The swimming and diving team do not compete again until January when they travel to Miami, FL for their annual training trip.

Men's Track & Field:

Zion Ponder (Rochester/School of the Arts) led the men's indoor track & field team with a 2nd place finish in the high jump as the Pioneers opened up the season at the Nazareth Invitational. Ponder cleared a height of 1.89 m (6-2 1/4) to tie for the top performance of the night but earned 2nd place based on tie-breaker rules.

Zack Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville East) was 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 6.57 m which ranks 8th all time. Shawn Rosa (Middletown) was 9th in the 300 m (37.63) and is now 7th all-time.

The quartet of Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post), Jhamir Brown (Elmira), Collin Stauffer (LeRoy), and Waleed Muhammad (Manhattan/LaSalle) was 2nd in 3:44.79 while the team of Cameron Chambers (East Rochester),  Rosa, Cameron Howard (Brockport), and Rudewicz-Nepokroeff was 3rd in 3:45.19. The marks are 3rd and 4th best all time.

At the Edinboro Multi, Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) broke the school record in the heptathlon as he finished 2nd with 4,564 points. He scored 840 points in the 60 m dash (7.12), 817 points in the 1,000 (2:45.13), and 714 points in the high jump (1.90 m). Derek Stein (Horseheads) finished in 6th with 3,402 points.

Women's Track & Field:

The sprint medley relay team of Caitlin Caltagirone (Holland), Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), Isabelle Popoff (Cicero North Syracuse), and Alyssa Delany (Hornell) set a new school record as the Pioneers opened up the season at the Nazareth Invitational. The SMR relay finished 4:50.88 to earn 3rd place to break the previous record of 5:04.1 that was established in 1998.

Kate Frascella (Franklinville) was 9th in the mile (7:02.22), Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) was 9th in the high jump (1.41 m), Nakaridia Sanogo (Harlem/Promise Academy) was 13th in the 600 (2:02.16), and Delany was 14th in the long jump (4.26 m).

Sarah Rivet (Waterford/Shenendehowa) finished 11th in the pentathlon at the Edinboro Multi. She scored 2,159 points which is 8th all time. She scored the most in the 60 m hurdles with a run of 11.06 (527). She also scored 491 points in the high jump (1.38 m) and 467 points in the 800 (2:49.70). 

Western Equestrian: High Point Team in AM Show

The Western Equestrian team won the AM show as they wrapped up the 2019 portion of their season. Alyssa Beardsley (Letchworth) earned the High Point Rider award in the morning show and qualified for Regionals in both open reining and open horsemanship.
 
Beardsley won both the open horsemanship and the open reining competition in the morning show. She then was 2nd in horsemanship and 3rd in the reining in the PM Show.
 
Joseph Canna (Lockport/Starpoint) and Brianna Lasecki (Newark) won their competitions in the AM show. Canna was 1st in Rookie B while Lasecki was 1st at Level 1. Jennifer Cirigliano (Brewster - Rookie A), Megan Delianne (West Islip - Rookie A), Sydnee Ganoung (Allegany Limestone - Begginer), Arianna Gordon (Genesee Valley - Rookie B), and Paige Skinner (Campbell Savona - Level 1) were 2nd in their rides. In the PM show, Cirigliano, Jinean Erickson (Holden, MA - Beginner), Gordon, and Skinner all rode to runner up finishes in the PM show.

Wrestling: 2-1, 11th at NYS Championships

Jacob DeWall (Waterloo) continued his solid freshman season with a 3rd place at the 15 team RIT Invitational on Saturday. The Pioneers scored 42.5 points to earn 11th place.

DeWall was 5-1 with five pins on the day in the heavyweight bracket. He started the day with a pin of Mi-Andre Hughes (RIT) in 31 seconds. He fell into the consolation bracket after falling the quarterfinals. He started his run to 3rd place with a pin of teammate Nick Barrett in 4:21. He pinned Cameren Smith (Worcester Polytechnic) in 2:58, and Niko Diakides (Worcester Polytechnic) in 57 seconds to earn a rematch with John O'Brien (Trinity) in the 3rd place match. In the rematch, DeWall got the better of O'Brien and pinned him in 1:33 to earn 3rd place. This is the second straight tournament DeWall has placed (he was 6th at the NYS Championships).

Jesse Pitoni (Churchville Chili) won a pair of decisions at 133, Anthony Miraglia (Byron Bergen) was 3-2 on the day at 157, Blake Ilges (Canisteo Greenwood) was 2-2 in the 174 lb. weight class, and Nicholas Barrett (Avoca) was 2-2 in the heavyweight bracket.
