Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) had a monster game as she recorded her sixth straight double-double as Alfred State defeated Finger Lakes CC 65-50. With the win the Lady Pioneers are 7-2 on the season.
Witchella led all scorers with 22 points and added 23 rebounds (13 offense), five assists, three blocks, and two steals. Karley Fanning (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) chipped in 11 points while Jennifer Fedrick (Buffalo/Bennett) finished with 10 points and seven boards. Helena Covington (Elmira Free) added six points off the bench as Alfred had ten different players register points.
Casi Strait led FLCC with 21 points while Julia Pagano came off the bench and finished with 13 points. Kelli McCauley added 11.
Alfred held a 63 to 42 advantage on the boards including 30 offensive rebounds. Neither team shot well in the contest, Alfred shot 36% from the field, 16.7% from three, and 50% from the foul line while Finger Lakes shot 28.1% from the field, 30.8% from three, and 58.8% from the line.
Alfred returns to action on Monday when they host Ithaca College JV at 7 p.m.
