Alfred State Rolls to Victory in Pioneer Invitational

The Alfred State women's swimming & diving team won 15 of 16 events as they rolled to the title at the 2019 Pioneer Invitational. The Pioneers scored 631 points on the day.

Jessie LaRue (Livonia) and Sarah Stevens (Wellsville) both won three individual events. LaRue won the 100 back in 1:04.80, the 50 free in 25.98, and the 200 back in 2:22.86 while Stevens won the 200 breast in 2:54.51 and swept a pair of diving events by winning the 1m with 304.50 points and the 3m with 282.65 points.

Kathryn Lewis (Niagara Wheatfield) won the 1650 free in 20:09.57 and the 500 free in 5:44.39 while Payton Armstrong (Highland Mills/Monroe Woodbury) won the 200 fly in 2:54.73 and the 100 fly in 1:11.90. Elizabeth Drake (Lansing) won the 200 free in 2:14.14, Hannah Snayczuk (Pioneer) won the 100 breast in 1:20.40, and Elizabeth Jurs (Elba) won the 400 IM in 5:47.86

The 200 medley relay team of LaRue, Lewis, Stevens, and Drake won in 2:04.79 while the 200 free relay team of Drake, Megan Hendershot (Brockport), Stevens, and Jurs won in 1:56.87.

The blue & gold competed vs. Herkimer CCC (85), Genesee CC (76), SUNY Delhi (61), and Erie CC (13).

Sarah Stevens and her sister Rebecca will head to the Ithaca Diving competition tomorrow while the rest of the team will begin preparation for the 2019 AMCC Championships in mid-February.
