Harford Downs Pioneers

NCAA DI Harford (MD) CC got solid pitching and defeated Alfred State 1-0 and 9-2 in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.  The Hawks improve to 8-3 on the year while the Pioneers are 0-6.

Stephen Solomon (Harrisburg, PA) allowed just five hits in a complete-game effort for the Pioneers in game one.  Stapleton allowed just the lone run of the game in the 3rd inning on a RBI single by Shane Garrett.  He finished the day with no walks and four strikeouts.

Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) collected the lone hit for the blue & gold in the contest.

Alfred scored an unearned run in the 1st but the Hawks scored seven unanswered runs over the next four innings to take control of the game.  Wheaton was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 3 with a RBI.  The blue & gold had seven singles in the contest.

The Pioneers travel to Chesapeake College on Sunday for a Noon doubleheader with the Skipjacks.
