Spain Added to Coaching Staff

The Alfred State football team has added a former player to their coaching staff for the 2014 season. Former Pioneer Rory Spain will be coaching the defensive linemen.

Spain, who finished his playing career in 2014 after playing three of his four collegiate season wearing the blue & gold, recorded 82 tackles for the blue & gold (36 solo and 7.5 for a loss) last season.  He recorded one sack, one interception, and recovered one fumble.  

Following the season he was named 2nd team All-USCAA and was the athletic department recipient of the Pioneer award given to the male and female athlete who has demonstrated sportsmanship and leadership, been involved in civic engagement activities, along with earning athletic honors during their career.

For his three year career at Alfred State,  Spain recorded 190 tackles, four sacks, and three interceptions during career.

This fall Spain will be completing his bachelor's degree in business administration.
