Big Plays Help Jackets Swarm Pioneers

The University of Rochester fast break offense put together eight 1st half scoring drives en route to a 61-0 victory over Alfred State on Saturday afternoon. The Yellowjackets improve to 2-0 on the year.

Rochester quarterback Daniel Bronson accounted for five touchdowns in the 1st quarter. He was 5 for 7 for 216 yards and four TDs and rushed for 54 yards and a score on five carries. 

The Yellowjackets finished the day with 565 yards of offense (265 yards rushing on 51 carries and 300 yards passing). On the other side of the ball the defense held the Pioneers to 61 total yards (80 passing and -19 rushing).

Farid Adenuga caught two touchdown passes for 87 yards while Justin Redfern led the U of R with 55 yards rushing.

Ben Wilkerson (Buffalo/Fayeette-Ware) was 17 for 27 for 80 yards, Joshua Hinds (Brooklyn/Boys & Girls) rushed for 52 yards, Khris Greggs (Rochester/Aquinas) caught eight passes for 24 yards.

John Lauretti (Seaford) led the defense with eight tackles (six solo). Danny Napolionello (Valley Stream) and Chris Monteiro (Farmingville/Sachem East) each had six tackles.

Josh Churchin led the Yellowjackets defense with seven tackles. U of Rochester recorded six sacks on the day, forced a fumble, and RJ Borgolini intercepted a pass. 

The Pioneers head to Castleton (VT) State next weekend for a Noon kickoff.
