Pioneers Predicted 6th in the ECFC
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its 2019 preseason poll on Tuesday as voted by the league's six head coaches. The Pioneers were predicted to finish 6th.
Alfred State, entering their third season in the ECFC, has plenty of new faces as they enter the 2019 season. Over 100 student-athletes reported to campus last week to begin preparation for the season. The young squad will feature 12 players that were in the starting lineup at times during the 2018 season.
The Pioneers will take on Morrisville in a scrimmage next weekend before opening up the regular season at UMass Dartmouth on September 7th. The ECFC slate begins on October 12th with a home contest with Anna Maria.
SUNY Maritime took the top spot earning 35 points off five first-place votes. Dean College held the second spot with 31 points and remaining first-place vote. Castleton University came in as a projected third place finish with 18 total points while Anna Maria College and Gallaudet University finished tied for fourth with 15 points. Alfred State rounded out the league preseason ranks with 12 total points.
