Andrew Pierre-Paul and Michael Zimmerman have been named ECFC Players of the Week

Pierre-Paul and Zimmerman Honored by the ECFC

Andrew Pierre-Paul (Brooklyn/Erasmus Hall) and Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) have been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC).

Pierre-Paul was named the Rookie of the Week after a solid first home game. He finished the game with five tackles (three solo) but his biggest impact was when he intercepted a Hartwick pass just under four minutes in the 2nd half and returned it 41 yards to give Alfred State their biggest lead of the game 20-14. He also was credited with two pass break-ups as the Pioneers held the Hawks to 144 yards of passing offense on the day (8 for 22).

Zimmerman was key in the field position battle. He punted five times with three of those punts landing inside the 20-yard line. He finished the day averaging 39.2 yards per punt which included a long of 62. He also connected on two PAT's.

Dean's Shannon Moxey was named the ECFC defensive player of the week while Juilan Burris of Dean was named the offensive player of the week.

Alfred State travels to the University of Rochester on Saturday for a Noon kickoff with the Yellowjackets.
