Pittsburgh, PA- The Pioneers tally four goals in the second half to secure the win over the Celtics. Alfred State moves to 11-2 on the season and 4-1 against conference foes.
Five different Pioneers found the back of the net, Liam Hyatt, Jackson Powers, Nuri Sarbudak, Garrett Potts, and Ali Mata-Ruiz. Thaddeus Grierson saw two shots on goal and tallied one save.
The Celtics stuck first in the 24th minute, Sarbudak tied the game at 1-1 50 seconds later with a goal off a pass from Andres Mateos.
Pios came out aggressive in the second period scoring four goals. Powers gave ASC their first lead of the game with a goal off a pass from Josh Price. Later in the 65th minute, Hyatt tallied a goal of his own for the 3-1 lead. Less than two minutes later, Farhan Abdi found Mata-Ruiz for a goal and the 4-1 lead. Then the reigning AMCC Offensive Player of the Week, Potts, would get on the board to make it a 5-1 game. Powers got credit for the assist.
The Pioneers held on their lead and took the 5-1 win.
