Pioneers Put Their Offense On Full Display In Win Over La Roche

Alfred, NY- Alfred State put on an offensive showcase to close out homecoming and get the win over La Roche 11-1.  The Pioneers moved to 12-3 on the season and 5-2 against conference opponents.

Michael Bupp and Nuri Sarbudak led the nine goal scorers as they both tallied braces. Jack Leahy and Garrett Potts notched two assists each.

Alfred got the scoring going early, as Sarbudak netted the first goal of the game off the pass from Potts in the second minute. A few minutes later, Potts and H. Leahy tallied back-to-back unassisted goals to take the 3-0 lead.

Then in the 17th minute, Sarbudak got his brace from another Potts assist. Michael Bupp would then put his name in the scoring column with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute. Then right before the half, J. Leahy found Bupp for his second goal of the day and the 6-0 lead.

Halftime did not slow down the Pioneer offense as they tallied five more goals. Matthew Zwirblis got the half going with a goal off an Andy Sanchez assist. A few minutes later, the Redhawks would find the back of the net for the first time. But Alfred answered with back-to-back goals within a minute and a half for the 9-1 lead. The first goal was a Leahy brother connection, as Jack Leahy found William Leahy for the goal. Then Juan Ruiz found Alexander Romero open for a goal.

Later in the 80th minute, Ruiz found the back of the net off a pass from Eli Moore for the 10-1 lead. Greyson Huntington notched the final goal of the game off the pass from Evan Blankenberg.
