Pioneers in First After Day One of AMCC Championships

After the first day of competition at the 2023 AMCC/ Empire 8 Swimming and Diving championships the Pioneers are in first place of both conferences. With 136 team points, the Pioneers are 18 points ahead of Alfred University and 24 points of Penn.- St. Behrend.

The Pioneers won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.68. They beat out the AU team by less than 3 seconds. The quartet of Westin Perry (Hartsville, NY / Canisteo Greenwood), Stuart Yates (Naples, NY / Naples), Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ / Northerrn Burlington) and Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH / N. Royalton) have been dominant all year and continued today. 

The Pioneer men also won the 800 free relay with a time of 6:56.78. The team of Westin Perry, Callum O'Neil (Pittsford, NY Pittsford-Sutherland), Avenn Toledo (San Diego, CA / San Marcos) and Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK / Jenks) beat the next fastest team by over 7 seconds.Perry led-off the relay and broke his 200-record with an individual time of 1:39.73. His time was good enough to qualify for the NCAA B-Cut.

The four day meet will continue tomorrow morning.
