Pioneers Break More Records. Increase Lead in Day Two.

After day two of competition at the 2023 AMCC/ Empire 8 Swimming and Diving championships the Pioneers are in first place of both conferences. With 442 team points, the Pioneers are over 100 points ahead of second place Hartwick College and Penn.- St. Behrend.

After a morning of prelims, the finals of the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 200 free relay all took place at the Webster Aquatic Center. The men's 3m dive finals also took place.

Conor Compton (Rexford, NY / Niskayuna) continued his historic season for the Pioneers with a score of 504.95. Compton has now broken his own dive records 3 times in the same season. His victory in the 3m dive was by more than 75 points.

Avenn Toledo (San Diego, CA / San Marcos) finished in fourth place in the 500 free with a time of 4:48.51. Toledo swam in the 500 free prelims this morning and set a school record with his time of 4:45.47.

Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ / Northerrn Burlington) swam the 200 IM and won with a time of 1:53.45. Fletcher's time was a school and meet record. 

Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH / N. Royalton) swam the 50 free. Aldewereld has been dominant in this event all season and continued today with a victory. His time of 20.86 was good enough for first place and a new school record. 

 

The four day meet will continue tomorrow morning with prelims and finals in the evening.
