Softball Split The Day Against Carlow

Munhall, PA - The Alfred State softball team split today's doubleheader against Carlow. Carlow took game one 5-2, then the Pioneers won game two 8-3.

In game two, Adriana DuVal pitched a complete 7.0 inning game. She scattered three runs over six hits with a strikeout. Abigail Marinelli had a good game at the plate going 2-4 for two RBIs. She came away with a triple and a stolen base.

The Pioneers got on the board first tallying three runs in the top of the first. Audrey Farrell reached on an error to lead off the game. She would steal second a few pitches later. Marinelli followed with an RBI triple for the 1-0 lead. Caley Larsen followed with a single to put runners on the corners, and then Lauryn Engle notched an RBI single up the middle to make it a 2-0 game. Two batters later, the Pios would score on an RBI sacrifice fly from Madigan Harris.

The Pioneers would score one run in both the fourth and fifth innings, to make it a 5-0 game. In the fourth, McKinlee Harris singled to center field the stole second to get in scoring position. She would come home to score on an error. Then in the fifth, ASC scored on an RBI sacrifice fly from Mc. Harris.

Carlow would cut the gap down to 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth, then Alfred State scored three insurance runs in the top of the seventh and held off Carlow to secure the win.

In game one, Breena Komarnisky surpassed the 100-career strikeout mark after pitching 6.0 innings and tallying three strikeouts. In that game, DuVal went 3-3 with two doubles, while McKinlee Harris notched three stolen bases.
