The Alfred State women's basketball team 25-8 lead in the first ten minutes of the contest and never looked back in a 81-53 victory on Tuesday night. The Lady Pioneers are now 9-10 on the year.
Marcedes Caver (Cleveland, OH) led a balanced Lady Pioneer attack with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Helena Covington (Elmira Free) chipped in 15 points and nine boards, Briana Meehan (Whitesville) finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Jennifer Fedrick (Buffalo/Bennett) had nine points. Destiny Brito (Manhattan/Park West) had an all around game finishing with six points, 10 assists, five rebounds and five steals.
Holly Hempill led the Lady Falcons with 27 points and 21 rebounds while Alainey Sweeney finished with 11 points and nine boards.
Alfred State led 44-23 at the half and led by as many as 33 in the game. The Lady Pioneers shot 36.3% from the field and was 8 for 17 from three-point land. The blue & gold also held a 60 to 49 advantage on the boards and forced 26 turnovers.
Davis (17-7) shot just 24.1% from the field and was 3 for 13 from three.
Alfred State continues their regular season ending homestand on Saturday when they host Erie CC at 1 p.m.
