Miller's Big Day Lifts Lakers Past Pioneers

Matt Miller found the back of the net eight times as Finger Lakes CC defeated Alfred State 15-7 on a snow covered Pioneer Stadium.  Miller added two assists for the 6-4 Lakers.

Matt Scharr had a big game as well for FLCC as he finished with one goal and seven assists. Roy Young netted a hat trick.

John Garbowski (Mohegan Lake) led Alfred State with two goals and nine ground balls.  Nate Spoor (Penn Yan) had two goals, David Ford (Elmont) passed out three assists, and Dominica Arresta (Southhampton), Michael Maranga (Rockaway), and Matt Chatfield (Myrtle Beach, SC) all scored once.

Finger Lakes held a 51-27 shot advantage.  Pioneer goalie Mike Alessi (Liverpool) made 20 saves.

The Lakers outscored the Pioneers 5-1 in each of the first two quarters and led 13-3 after three quarters.

The blue & gold battle Hilbert on Monday at 4 p.m. in their next contest.
