Big Run Leads Medaille Past Pioneers

The Medaille College lacrosse team scored 12 unanswered goals spanning from late into the 1st quarter until the 4th quarter en route to a 18-6 victory over Alfred State in the Pioneers home finale.

The Pioneers led 2-1 with 7:15 left in the 1st quarter but Medaille took over and did not allow another goal until the 14:11 mark of the 4th quarter.  Offensively the Mavericks scored 12 times to take a commanding 13-2 lead.

Medaille was led by the offensive fire power of Brock Levick and Cameron Ferguson.  Levick finished with eight goals and four assists while Ferguson scored three times and passe dout five assists.

Nate Spoor (Penn Yan) led Alfred State with three goals and an assist while Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) added two assists and a team high seven groundballs.  Andrew Delligatti (Fox Lane), David Ford (Sewanhaka), and John Garbowski (Mohegan Lake) all scored for the blue & gold.

In net, Mike Alessi (Liverpool) made 21 saves in just over three quarters of play for the Pioneers.  Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) made five saves.  Medaille's Julian LaDelia and Gamaliel Romero combined to make seven saves in the victory.

Medaille outshot the Pioneers 69 to 19 in the contest and took advantage of 6 of their 13 extra man opportunities.

Alfred State wraps up their season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. road contest at Elmira.
