Barber Named All-ECAC North

Alfred State sophomore catcher Melissa Barber (Nassau/Catholic Central) has been named an honorable mention All-ECAC North. The announcement comes days after Barber was named a 2nd team All-American by the USCAA.

Barber collected hits in 25 of the Lady Pioneers 28 games this season. She put together an eight game hitting streak and a 12-game hitting streak during the season. Eleven times she collected multiple hits as she led the Pioneers with a .450 batting average (41 for 91).  She hit six doubles, drove in 16 runs, and scored 26 times. 

Season Highlights:

• Versus Wisconsin-Stout (during Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, SC) she was 3 for 4 with two doubles and 5 RBI.
• Versus Delhi (game 2) she was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI.
• Versus Elmira (game 1) she was 4 for 4 with 2 RBI.
• Versus Elmira (combined DH) she was 6 for 9 with 3 RBI.
• Versus D'Youville (game 2) she was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
• Versus D'Youville (combined DH) she was 5 for 6.
• Versus Canton (game 1 on 4/22) she was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Barber is the first softball player at Alfred State to earn ECAC postseason honors.
