Pioneers Place Six at John Summa Invitational

The Alfred State Pioneer Wrestling team traveled to Baldwin Wallace to take part in the annual John Summa Invitational. The Pioneers finished in fifth place as a team out of ten schools competing. The Pioneers had six place winners on the day.

Sean Malenfant was Alfred State's best finisher. Malenfant was the runner-up in the 184 lb bracket after falling by decision in the final to the 3 ranked NCAA DII wrestler. Malenfant started his day with two straight pinfall victories, bringing his pin total to 20 and setting a new ASC record.

Dom Vinci placed third in the 141 lb bracket. Vinci earned two pinfall victories on the day. Zachary Levey placed third in the 133 lb bracket with a pinfall win in the opening round.

Other place winners for the Pioneers include:

Mason Drew who finished in 7th place I the 125 lb bracket.

Sean Peterson who finished in 8th place in the 141 lb bracket.

George Racz who finished in 8th place in the 157 lb bracket.

The Pioneers are back in action on February 12, at the AMCC Championships.
