Cross Country Wins Own Invitational

The Pioneer cross country team won both the men's and women's title at the annual Alfred State Invitational.  The women won with a perfect score of 15 while the men won with a score of 22.

The top finishers of the women's 4k race were Lady Pioneers.  Kelly Healy (Castelon) won the race in 18:52.3.  Kim Lupo (Auburn) was 2nd (19:19), Leah Foley (Marion) was 3rd (21:39.9), MIkaela Shaw (Attica) was 4th (21:42.6), and ShirleeSae Ulsley (Whitney Point) was 5th (22:09.2).

In the men's race the Pioneers had four of the top five finishers.  Shawn Weiler of Mercyhurst North East won the 5k course in 17:55.5.  Joe Seitz (Williamsville) was 2nd (17:58.8), James Westman (Fultonville) was 3rd (18:28.4), Jordan Rusek (East Amherst) was 4th (18:44.6), and Dominic Freudenvoll (Rochester/Greece Arcadia) was 5th (18:46.4).

Alfred won the competition with 22 points followed by Finger Lakes CC with 54 and Mercyhurst North East with 60.

The Pioneers are in action next weekend when they run at the University of Rochester Invitational.  The first race begins at Noon.
