The Alfred State women's basketball team increased their winning streak to nine games with a 73-42 victory over Davis. Every Lady Pioneer scored as they improved to 14-4.
The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 20-4 lead early and never looked back. Davis cut the lead to 34-22 at the break but the blue & gold went on a 28 to 8 run to start the 2nd half to put the game out of reach.
Haley Witchella (Oxford) recorded another double-double with 23 points and 11 boards. Joselyn Johnson (Geneva) added 11 points off the bench while Helena Covington (Elmira Free) had nine points and seven rebounds. Jennifer Fedrick (Buffalo/Bennett) had a solid all around game finishing with seven points, seven boards, five assists, and four steals.
The Lady Pioneers held a huge 73-38 advantage on the boards including 42 offensive boards. The blue & gold also forced 27 Falcon turnovers.
Natalie Wright led the Lady Falcons with 14 points while Taylor Stroebel and Jasmin Kelly each chipped in seven. Davis connected on seven 3-pointers in the contest.
The Lady Pioneers are back at it on Thursday when they travel to Mercyhurst North East for a 5 p.m. tip-off with the Lady Saints.
