Alfred State Competes at Whitehill Duals
The Alfred State wrestling team dropped two matches on day one of the Budd Whitehill Duals at Lycoming College on Friday. The Pioneers fell 43-9 to Olivet and 36-17 to Ohio Northern.

The #7 Comets jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Olivet won the first five matches before Konnor Kremer (Horseheads) earned a 10-3 decision at 165 lbs. Matthew Sowers (Whitesboro) earned a pin of Andrew Simpson two minutes into the match at 197 to account for the Pioneers other victory.

Ethan Livernash (Penfield) got the Pioneers on the board at 125 lbs. with a forfeit win. The Polar Bears tied it up at 133 but Tyler Aldinger (Alexander) gave Alfred State back the lead with a 15-0 tech fall over Cody Harting. ONU won the next five matches to take control of the bout. Matthew Sowers (Whitesboro) picked up his second pin of the day at 197. He pinned Kody Bellamy in 2:22.
