Wrestlers Make it Two Straight

The Alfred State wrestling team made it two straight victories with a 35-18 victory over Penn College on Tuesday evening. The Pioneers scored 26 consecutive points to take control of the match.

Konnor Kremmer (Horseheads) opened up the evening with a 2-1 victory over Taylor Porter in the 165 lb. match. The Wildcats tied it up with a victory at 174 but then the Pioneers earned points in the five matches to take control of the contest.

Connor Fox (Midlakes) defeated Daniel Frankenfield 12-6 at 187, Matthew Sowers (Whitesboro) pinned Michael Failla in 42 seconds at 197, Alex Ortiz (Middletown) and Quasar Hampton (South Bronx) earned forfeit wins at 235 and 285 respectively, and Austin Keough (Warsaw) won 17-1 to earn a tech fall over Dalton Deimler at 125 to give the Pioneers a 29-3 lead.

The Wildcats won three of the final four matches to close the gap. Alfred's lone win was a forfeit victory by Tyler Aldinger (Alexander) at 141.

The Pioneers are back in action on Thursday when they host Lycoming at the Orvis Activities Center at 7 p.m.
