Houghton Blanks Pioneers
The Houghton College women's soccer team scored four 2nd half goals in a 4-0 victory over Alfred State on Wednesday evening. The Highlanders improve to 12-3 on the year while the Pioneers fall to 10-4-1.
The contest was scoreless until the 56th minute when Atalie Fite danced into the box and found the back of the net. Stephany Ellison made it 2-0 six minutes later with her team leading 15th goal. Darlene Eckhardt and Sarah Gabrielle scored insurance goals in the 74th and 77th minutes.
The Highlanders held a 22 to 4 shot advantage in the game. Shawna Sprout made three saves for the shutout while Krista DeCarlo (West Islip) made nine saves for Alfred.
The blue & gold wrap up the regular season on Sunday when they travel to Wells College for 2 p.m. showdown with the Express.
