Pioneers Finished Third As Popoff Earned Track Athlete Of The Meet

Landover, MD- The Alfred State women's track and field team finished third at the United East Indoor track and field championship meet. Izzy Popoff earned female track Athlete of the Year.

Oli Kraynik opened the day with a first-place finish and broke school record in the 400-meter dash, with a time 59.27.

Popoff won the one mile run with a time of 5:35.63. With that time, she moved into third all time. Then she notched a third-place finish in the 800-meter run, after crossing the line in 2:36.45. Olivia Plummer was right behind her with a time of 2:36.45 for fourth place.

Hailey Kumpf tallied a third-place finish in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:46.16.

Charis Evans notched a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.

In the final track event, the team of Kumpf, Kraynik, Plummer, and Popoff won the distance medley with a time of 14:13.05. That team moved into seventh all time with that time.

Kraynik also took fourth in the pole vault after jumping 2.90 meters, Laura Walker in fifth.

In the long jump, Madison Snayczuk jumped 4.62 meters to claim fourth place.

Kenzi Gillette came third in the weight throw after throwing 12.66 meters. With that distance, Gillette moved into third all time. Then in the shot put, Jileena Stearns threw 9.76 meters for eighth place.
