Pioneers Had A Good Outing In Their Home Opener

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State women's Track and Field team notched more than 10 top-10 finishes in their season opener.

Isabelle Popoff finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.92. Sarah Rivet and Lily Schnell both finished in the top five in the 200-meter. Rivet placed second running a time of 27.35 while Schnell placed fifth with a time of 28.81. Rivet also placed second in the 200-meter with a time of 13.22. Oli Kraynik took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.86 while Schnell placed third with a time of 1:04.68.

Mackenzie Gillette took second in the hammer throw with a throw of 40.42 meters. Gilette also finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 23.40 with Jileena Stearns placed ninth with a throw of 21.54. Oli Stearns would also notch a ninth place finish in the shotput with a best throw of 8.49 meters.Kraynik finished first in the pole vault with a best jump of 2.60 meters.

Madison Snayczuk topped all jumpers in the long jump with a jump of 5.14 meters while Laura Walters placed fourth with a jump of 4.73 meters. Snayczuk also finished first in the triple jump with a jump of 10.78 while Schnell placed third with a jump of 9.44 meters.
