Pfleghardt, Braun, & Ramsey Named USCAA All-Americans

Alfred State volleyball players Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga), Lera Braun (Waterloo), and Jess Ramsey (Tioga) have been named USCAA All-Americans. Pfleghardt was a 1st team selection, Braun a 2nd team, and Ramsey was named honorable mention.

Pfleghardt appeared in 112 of Lady Pioneers 116 sets this year. She led the team with 396 kills (3.54 per set). She also recorded 378 digs (3.38 per set), 50 aces, and 15 blocks. Pfleghardt recorded at least 10 kills in 25 matches and 10 digs in 14 matches. She had a season high 21 kills vs. Central Penn and a season high 27 digs at Houghton. 

Pfleghardt was named a honorable mention USCAA All-American last year and is the first two-time USCAA All-American in program history. Pfleghardt also became the first player in program history with over 1,000 kills in her career (1,276).

Braun appeared in all 116 of the Lady Pioneers sets this season. She passed out 993 assists (8.56 per set) on the year. She also recorded 246 digs (2.12 per set), 134 kills (1.16 per set), and 64 service aces. Braun passed out at least 10 assists in 34 of the Lady Pioneers 35 matches, she had at least 20 assists in 32 matches, and 30 or more assists in 15 matches. She had season high 50 assists vs. Utica.

Ramsey was the Lady Pioneers libero for 111 of the team's 116 sets this year. She led the team with 541 digs (4.87 per set). She recorded at least 10 digs in 27 matches and had 20 or more digs in nine matches. Ramsey had a season high 31 digs in both the victory at Keuka and at Houghton.

The Lady Pioneers finished the 2014 season with a 25-10 mark. The team made the program's first trip to the USCAA National Championships, where they finished 4th, and the program's first trip to an ECAC Tournament.
