Pfleghardt, Braun, and Ramsey Add AVCA Honors
The Alfred State volleyball trio of Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga), Lera Braun (Waterloo), and Jess Ramsey (Tioga) have added another All-American honor to their resume. The trio was recently named American Volleyball Coaches Association USCAA All-Americans.
Pfleghardt and Braun were both named 1st team while Ramsey was a honorable mention selection.
This is the first year the AVCA has announced a USCAA All-American team. The All-American team honors 13 student-athletes: six seniors, four juniors, two sophomores and a freshman. Six of the lauded individuals are outside hitters, while two setters, two middle blockers, two liberos and a right side also earned distinction
Earlier this fall, Pfleghardt was named 1st team USCAA All-American, Braun was named 2nd team, and Ramsey honorable mention.
The Lady Pioneers finished the 2014 season with a 25-10 mark. The team made the program's first trip to the USCAA National Championships, where they finished 4th, and the program's first trip to an ECAC Tournament.
