Pioneers Race Past Pratt

The Alfred State men's basketball team dominated the 2nd half as they raced past Pratt Institute on Friday evening, 65-39. The Pioneers have now won two straight and have four victories on the season.

The Pioneers finished the 1st half on a 8-3 run to hold a 24-19 lead. After the break, Alfred State exploded and started the first eight minutes on a 25-5 run to take control of the contest. The Pioneers led by as many as 26.

Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) led the Pioneers with 16 points while Tyler Elliott (Perry) had 13 points and seven boards. Adam Fezza (Southhampton), Charles Ingram (Harlem/Seward Park), and Hunter Spiotta (Oakfield Alabama) all chipped in five.

The blue & gold shot 43.1% from the field, held a 45-33 advantage on the boards, and forced the Cannoneers into 22 turnovers.

Ari Grant led Pratt with 20 points while Andrew Yaglenski finished with 10 for the 5-7 Cannoneers.

The win was the 199th of the Alfred State coaching career of Jerry Jusianiec. He now has the most coaching wins of any coach in Alfred State men's basketball history passing Hall of Fame coach Dick Giedlin who won 198 games between 1957 and 1970 (198-103).

The Pioneers will look to build on their success this week on Saturday when they take on Davis College in Johnson City at 2 p.m.
