Team Effort Leads Hamilton Over Pioneers

The Hamilton College men's basketball team got contributions from everyone as they defeated Alfred State 68-51 on Thursday evening. Thirteen different players scored for the Continentals in the contest as they improved to 13-6.

Hamilton jumped out to a 23-6 lead early on and the Pioneers were never able to cut the lead under ten points the rest of the way. The Pioneers trailed 34-21 at halftime and put together a few runs in the 2nd half but never could cut the lead under 11.

Peter Kazickas led Hamilton with 12 points and eight boards while Kyle Pitman came off the bench and chipped in 10. The Continentals shot 43.9% from the field, connected on 7 of 18 three-point attemps, and hit 11 of 12 foul shots.

Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) and Justin Wallace (Mt. St. Michael) each had 10 points in the contest to lead Alfred State. Charles Ingram (Harlem/Seward Park) came off the bench and finished with seven. The Pioneers shot 31.4% from the field, hit only 1 of 19 three-point attempts, and were forced into 26 turnovers.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to SUNY Canton for a 3 p.m. contest.
