Swim Team Opens Season with 5th Place Finish

The Alfred State swimming team finished 5th in the Panther Relays at Pitt-Bradford on Saturday to open up their 2014-15 season. The Pioneers scored 32 points in the event.

The men's 300 backstroke relay team of Alex Ciolek (Orchard Park), Tim Seitzinger (Bel Air, MD), Chad Blunt (Horseheads), and Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) finished 3rd in 3:11.06. 

The men's 800 freestyle relay team of Cutler, Blunt, Seitzinger, and Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) finished 4th in 8:49.61.

The mixed 400  medley reversed relay team of Jenny Vazquez (Long Island City), Sporysz, Eryn Cochran (Alfred), and Ciolek finished 5th in 5:38.97.

The 500 freestyle crescendo relay team of Mike Parziale (Half Hollow Hills), Tim Berry (Midlakes), Seitzinger, and John Paul Holubek (Wayland Cohocton) finished 5th in 5:34.08.

The meet was the first for Alfred State under the direction of recently hired swimming coach RC Weston.

Penn State Behrend won the meet with 242 points followed by Pitt-Bradford (150) and Penn State Altoona (132).

Alfred State host Bethany (WV) on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
