Gleaton Leads Lady Pioneers

Three Lady Pioneers finished in double figures but the Alfred State women's basketball team could not overcome their turnovers in a 94-67 set back at Pitt Bradford. The Panthers scored 38 points off of turnovers in the contest.

Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) led the Lady Pioneers with 14 points and nine rebounds while Joselyn Johnson (Geneva) and Steffanie Preston (Groton) both added 10 points. Kimberly Levee (Dansville) chipped in nine points ane eight rebounds.

Ali Rinfrette and Kaserra Owens led four different Lady Panthers in double figures. Rinfrette finished with 21 points on and five assists while Owens added 20 points and seven assists. Bradford shot 40.2% from the field and connected on seven 3-pointers.

Bradford's press forced the Lady Pioneers into numerous turnovers early in the contest. The Panthers led 30-8 after the 1st quarter. The game was much closer in the 2nd and 3rd and Alfred State held a 22-14 advantage in the 4th quarter.

Alfred State will head to SUNY Canton this weekend. They battle SUNY Potsdam on Saturday at 5 p.m. and then take on Cazenovia at Noon on Sunday.
