Lady Pioneers Overcome Slow Start to Win 4th Straight

The Alfred State women's basketball team started off slow but was able to rebound in a a 69-52 at Davis College on Tuesday evening. The Lady Pioneers now have won four straight and are 8-14 on the season.

Alfred State trailed 17-6 and 22-6 in the 2nd quarter but stormed back to take a 30-29 lead at halftime. The blue & gold kept the pressure on and raced to the victory.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) led the way with 20 points and eight boards off the bench. Kelly Kane (Wellsville) finished with 15 points while Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) recorded another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Alfred State shot 31.9% from the field and held a commanding 65 to 47 advantage on the boards (25 to 12 on the offensive glass). 

Jamie Brown led the Falcons with 18 points while Bethany Atwood finished with 14. Alainey Banks chipped in nine points and 12 rebounds. The Falcons shot just 25% from the field in the contest.

The Lady Pioneers wrap up the season this weekend with a trip to Maine. They battle Maine Presque Isle on Saturday at 1 p.m. and then take on Maine Fort Kent at Noon on Sunday.
