Hanss and Thiel Headline Postseason Honors

Juniors Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) and Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) headline postseason honors earned by Alfred State cross country.

Hanss, the top finisher all season for Alfred State, earned USCAA 2nd team All-American status with his 13th place finish at Nationals. He finished the 8k course in 26:41 (3:20 per kilometer). Hanss also was named 1st team All-Independent by the Association of Division III Independents for his success throughout the season.

Thiel, the top finisher for the women all season, was recently named 1st team All-Independent. She was 2nd at the ACAA Championships and finished 26th at the USCAA Championships. At USCAA's she crossed the finish line of the 6k course in 24:51.

A quartet of Pioneer runners were also honored for their academic success at the National Championship banquet. Hanss and Thiel were joined by Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) and Kyle Glaub (West Seneca East) with USCAA All-Academic honors. To earn All-Academic status a student-athlete must have over a 3.5 GPA while competing for at least two seasons.
