Moore to Headline 2016 Hall of Fame - 2000 & 2007 National Champs to be Honored

Recently retired Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Gary Moore will headline the 2016 Alfred State Hall of Fame ceremony to be held on Saturday, September 10th.  Moore will be inducted into the Hall of Fame while his 2000 Men's Outdoor Track & Field and 2007 Women's Outdoor Track & Field national championship teams will be honored.

During his tenure at Alfred State, Moore coached cross country, track & field, and swimming. He lead four teams to NJCAA DIII National Championships (2000 Men's Outdoor Track & Field, 2003 Women's Cross Country, 2007 Women's Outdoor Track and Field, and 2011 Women's Cross Country).

He also coached the Pioneers to 47 NJCAA Region III championships, helped coordinate Alfred State hosting three NJCAA Cross Country Championships and three NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Alfred State also hosted numerous Region III Championships during his tenure. Moore also served numerous years serving numerous roles on the NJCAA Cross Country/Track & Field Coaches Association. 

The 2000 Men's Outdoor Track & Field team won the national championship after winning both the indoor and outdoor Region III titles. The Pioneers registered fifteen NJCAA Outdoor All-American performances, 16 All-Region outdoor performances, and six All-Region indoor performances. The national championship was the first team national championship since 1973.

The 2007 Women's Outdoor Track & Field team became only the second women's team to win a national title at Alfred State.  On their way to winning the national championship, the Lady Pioneers won both the indoor and outdoor Region III titles. Alfred State registered 10 NJCAA Outdoor All-American performances, eight All-Region performances outdoors, and 16 All-Region performances indoors. 

Hall of Fame festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the annual Cross Country Alumni meet. All are welcome to race Alfred State's 5k course and compete versus the current Pioneers. After awards and some light refreshments, the Hall of Fame ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the Lake Lodge. Tickets for the Hall of Fame ceremony are $25 with proceeds going towards the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to Pioneer Stadium for the football home opener vs. Brockport. All attendees of the Hall of Fame ceremony will receive a ticket to the game. Coach Moore and the national championship teams will be honored prior to kickoff.
