Hilbert used a 6-0 run in the 2nd quarter and then outscored Alfred State 7-0 in the 2nd half as the Hawks defeated the Pioneers 21-8 on Wednesday evening.
The Hawks led 6-3 after the 1st quarter but the Pioneers scored the first three goals of the 2nd quarter to tie the game at 6-6. Hilbert scored the next six goals and held a 14-8 lead at the half. In the 2nd half the Hawks took control and outscored the Pioneers 7-0.
Aaron Buck (Churchville) led the Pioneers with three goals and one assist. Josh Aviles (Middletown) and Joe Johnson (Churchville) both netted two goals, Nicolas Covelli (Carmel) scored once, and Patrick Matkoski (West Genesee) had two assists.
James Duffy led the Hawks with seven goals and two assists while Patrick Crangel had four goals and five assists.
The Pioneers head to SUNY Canton on Saturday for a 1 p.m. battle with the Kangaroos.
